CULTIVATION AND TECHNOLOGY Miedema CP 42 P now ready for real work Last year, the machine was already being admired at several European agricultural shows and it is now ready for real work. Machinery manufacturer Miedema demonstrated its new CP 42 P planting combination in the Netherlands during the recent planting period. And also in the village of Klaaswaal in the province of South-Holland, under the watchful eye of the invited potato growers and contractors from that region. T he new member of the Miedema family of planting combinations has been built for growers and contractors who wish to combine capacity with ease, explains sales manager Casper Metz. To move the CP 42 P, a tractor with broad tyres with low pressure can be used. An extra wheel, which may be needed for a tillage tool in front of the tractor, is therefore not necessary in this combination. As a set of narrow-gauge wheels in front and a set of dual tyres ones at the back of the tractor easily cost 10,000 euros, this amount of money can be saved by buying this combination, unless you already have the tyre for other activities, of course. One could then perhaps spend that same amount on a GPS receiver with steering-gear. The 175 hp tractor in the demo combination here is equipped with such features. This modern feature makes it possible for the combiPotato World 2011 • number 1 23 Pagina 22
