PW-ACTUA Kiremko and Packo are introducing a new product pump Towards the end of 2015, Kiremko organised a Knowledge Day during which the company gave information to customers and business contacts about the most recent developments in the potato processing industry. The guests were welcomed at the company’s own factory in Montfoort. It’s already teeming with activity there. A major part of the production is focused on getting the Belgian processor Clarebout Potatoes, which had been damaged by a huge fire a few months ago, back on its feet before Christmas. The theme of the Kiremko Knowledge Day was Teamwork. Together with the chain partners Idaho Steel, Reyco Systems, TolsmaGrisnich, BPA, FAM, Van den Pol, Concept Engineers, Gea and Packo, existing and new initiatives were presented. ‘The hot news is our new Paul Oosterlaken (r) and Bas Bijman show the new gamma stainless steel VPCK pumps. product pump, the VPCK, which we developed together with Packo’, Kiremko Director Paul Oosterlaken says. The Packo Company has been designing and constructing stainless steel pumps for various industries since 1975. Worldwide, they have delivered over 300,000 pumps for a wide range of applications. ‘With this innovative pump, a successor for the current VDKK, we’ve added value to the production processes of New seedpotato route to Israel Growing conditions in Israel improved during the growing season after extreme weather in December and again in January. Israeli new season potatoes will be ready for shipment in the coming weeks and most winter season crop will be ready for the European markets before Easter 2016. “We are seeing strong demand for any early crops, particularly for the firm cooking products, and the relatively high prices in the markets are helping introducing imported new season potatoes, unlike last year” says Yaniv Yablonka, MD of Yapro Ltd, a Israeli exporter of Potatoes to Europe.”This year, we have changed the way seedpotatoes are imported to Israel from Europe and we have better control and involvement in the whole process from seeds importing throughout the growing stages and all the way to the final clients” say Yablonka. “Until now, the seeds importing in to Israel was centrally managed, and we are now bringing the seeds companies closer to the fields in Israel, and the whole system is managed differently to be benefit of both the farmers and the final clients.” The Israeli Potatoes production is estimated to be similar to previous years, with approx. 230,000 tons expected to be exported until and June. ● our customers. The production pump, which was especially built for the vegetable and potato processing industry, has a larger pump housing and a customised impeller. With this design, the VPCK meets the need from the market: to minimise product damage and improve the productivity of the production line’, Oosterlaken explains. Hygienic and durable ‘Based on experience with the current VDKK product pump the complete geometry of both impeller and pump housing were studied through CFD and re-designed. This with a view to having a free passage that’s as large as possible in a work zone that’s as wide as possible’, Engineering Manager Bas Bijman adds. ‘To test the pump, we developed a testing method with which we’ve assessed and compared both the number and the scale of product damage in an objective way. The new pump provides by far the best results compared to other renowned product pumps’. During the day, Kiremko presented four pump types in various sizes. The shiny stainless steel of the pump is an immediate eye catcher. ‘This makes it hygienic and durable. The VPCK has the same overall dimensions as the VDKK pump which means they are easily interchangeable. ● “The seedpotatosystem is managed differently to be benefit of both the farmers and the final clients”, explains Yaniv Yablonka.
