PW-ACTUA Miedema introduces new generation of product-friendly store loaders Farm machinery manufacturer Miedema in Winsum recently announced that a new series of ML (Miedema Loaders) store loaders is being put into production. These ML store loaders are equipped with an 80 cmwide product belt, have a high transportation capacity and, according to the machine manufacturer, are very product-friendly for potatoes. Characteristic of the new ML series is the modern and prestigious design, the manufacturer from Winsum tells us. Moreover, for the production of his machinery, the manufacturer makes use of state-ofthe-art technologies. The 80-cm-wide and also deep troughed conveyor has a high capacity of more than 150 tons per hour, without damaging the potatoes. The conveyor belt speed is also limited with a high transportation capacity, the manufacturer mentions. Another aspect is that the wide conveyor belt lies completely free from the frame, which allows for 100% utilisation of the transport of the product, ensuring maximum potato quality, Miedema promises. Thanks to the completely open construction of the frame, parts that need maintenance are easily accessible. In addition, debris and falling soil can’t accumulate inside the machine. Characteristic of the new ML series is the modern and prestigious design. Robust drum motor A drum motor drives the conveyor belt in the new store loaders, and is located at the end of the main frame for maximum grip. The conveyor has a flexible end. The use of a small return roller has made it possible to achieve a very short drop height. The store loaders can be fitted with the X-Stream feed belt, a short, flat conveyor belt on the receiving side, which guarantees damage-free transport of the potatoes on the belt. It also provides a higher continuous capacity, as much as 15% higher at the same belt speed. The store loaders are available in lengths of 16, 19 and 22 metres and, according to Miedema, really excel when it comes to ease of use. The control box is integrated into the design of the machine. All the essential functions are simple to operate via a wired or optional wireless remote control. Furthermore, the store loaders can be completely configured to customer specifications. Miedema has a choice of three filling programmess: Farmer, Comfort and Dynamic. Farmer is a standard filling programme, which makes use of ultrasonic side-wall detection instead of poles. Comfort is suitable for filling a storage cell in layers. The new Dynamic filling programme is also suitable for filling in layers and includes the extra Top-Fill option. This is a capacity compensation for the incline angle and the virtual side walls. With Top-Fill it is possible to keep the ML store loaders at a constant height while filling the last layer of potatoes. The capacity compensation runs the belt at a higher speed as the incline angle increases. Moreover, you have the option of virtually adjustable side walls, or swivel limitation. ● New Phytophthora genotype discovered In 2014 and 2015, both in the Netherlands and Germany, a new Phytophthora genotype was discovered. Within the Euroblight network of European researchers it was given the type specifier EU_36_A2. Not a great deal is yet known about this genotype, the Euroblight report disclosed. It is a triploid strain, which is alarming, because other aggressive genotypes, such as Bleu 13 and Pink 6 are also triploid. Within a short time, the share of the new genotype has increased in Europe to 1.8 percent. This is an indication that it is a variant that easily adapts to other populations.
