REPORT New Zealand offers versatile and sophisticated potato cultivation Auckland Pukekohe Ohakune Wellington Rakaia Darfield Christchurch Timaru Invercargill Dunedin Ashburton In Maori, the language of the original inhabitants, New Zealand is called Aotearoa: the Land of the Long White Cloud. In this country, indeed with many Long White Clouds, we also find potatoes. Not an awful lot, mind you, only 10,000 hectares of them, but they are of very good quality. Thanks to the fact that the New Zealanders organised the World Potato Congress this year, we were able to pay a prolonged visit to kiwi country.
