Packed Agritechnica full of innovations CULTIVATION AND TECHNOLOGY Necap keeps it dry ‘Staggered planks give almost 20 percent efficiency improvement‘, Jan Broers has calculated. ‘All our boxes are made of NorthEuropean dried deal‘, is how director Jan Broers comes straight to the point. ‘The big advantage is that the wood no longer shrinks during the storage of the potatoes. Potato storage means drying and that also applies to the wood. If you buy a box with 19 percent of moisture in the wood, you get instability in the stacked boxes, with all the consequences. Besides this message about quality, Broers also shows a box that was especially developed for the popular suction system. ‘By staggering the planks between the various surfaces, we force the air to go straight into the box instead of between the cracks of the planks. As a result, we can get almost 20 percent efficiency improvement‘, Broers has calculated. New automation in big bag filler At his stand, director Jan Bijlsma is showing a not so eye-catching novelty. It is the new fastening technique for hanging and taking off big bags from the Bijlsma big bag filler. As before, the big bags are hung onto the hooks manually, but they are now taken off automatically. Once the big bag is full, the hooks collapse thanks to magnet technology. When picking up a full big bag, the forklift driver no longer needs to get off his vehicle and that saves time. This new Bijlsma Hercules solution costs no extra. Once the big bag is full, the hooks collapse, thanks to magnet technology. Clever use of rubber Although Broekema didn’t have an official stand in the potato hall, the products of this supplier of transport, sieve and barred belts were there, says Broekema’s Jeroen Moleman. A new inspection and transport belt has recently been developed for AVR, R&D man Johan Oord tells us. “This hard-wearing, single-row hedgehog belt is fitted with a sturdy profile and yet is gentle on the product. Also, the design has been upgraded,” Oord explains. In addition, Oord shows a new CCP belt for washing machines. “As a result of a new method of vulcanising, this belt is lighter and even more resistant to wear than the older version”, Moleman explains. “This is because we’re using rubber everywhere ín a smarter way now, which makes carriers gentle on the product. What’s more, the belt drains really well due to the new ‘Quick drain technology’.” Johan Resort (l) and Jeroen Moleman show their new innovations such as the softer rubber. iXclean is almost drinking-water pure The large, drawn fertiliser distributors of Kverneland/Vicon, which are no longer called Phoenix but iXtrack, are now equipped with a new cleaning system for tanks and piping. This is called iXclean. Also, the number of connections and the length of the hoses/pipes have been reduced to a minimum. Together, all the changes have resulted in a sprayer that is almost drinking-water pure after cleaning. According to the official tests, the remaining droplets in the pipes and tanks only contain an average concentration of 0.08 percent. It is hardly possible to get very much cleaner with (only) 350 litres of rinsing water. ● According to the official tests, the remaining droplets in the pipes and tanks only contain an average concentration of 0.08 percent.
