RE SEARCH ‘Saline soils usually have to cope with a poor soil structure. We take that into account when developing salt-tolerant varieties. Salt tolerance studied in depth Salinisation of the soil is a threat for agriculture throughout the world and includes the cultivation of potatoes. This well-known message was strongly reiterated by Guus Heselmans of C. Meijer B.V. for the partners of the Wageningen Potato Centre Knowledge Institute during the recently-held study day. ‘The availability of water is point one, its quality point two.
