Important matters relating to the harvest As far as the lifting machinery is concerned, attention will focus on important matters such as wheel and tyre pressure. Which is better, a set of caterpillar tracks or extremely-wide tyres? And should we forget those large bunkers and only focus on a small buffer to limit the weight of the machine? Some of the questions have already been answered in the new models the manufacturers hope to demonstrate in September. Well-known names are AVR, Dewulf, Grimme, Ropa and Ploeger. In addition to the lifting programme, there will also be storage machinery in operation. Companies that have already promised to show such machines are AVR, Dewulf, Miedema, Grimme and Bijlsma Hercules. Already a great deal of interest from the sector The organisation of PotatoEurope 2015 can’t complain about the interest from the exhibitors. Everybody wants to be present at the start of a new year with hopefully better business opportunities. As far as the lifting machinery is concerned, attention will focus on important matters such as wheel and tyre pressure. There were already over 175 applications from prospective exhibitors not so long ago. ‘The large tent in the centre of the show ground with a surface of 3,250 sq. metres is already full’, event coordinator Alain Vander Cruys told us proudly. This tent will house participants from a total of 12 different countries, from Denmark to China. Together, these businesses cover virtually all products, services, trade and machinery that are relevant for the potato sector. Soil-related solutions include choice of variety and ample crop rotation. Talks and study sessions with a focus on soil In addition to the stands, trial fields and shows, there will also be talks at PotatoEurope 2015. It is already known that, on 2 September, the first day, some study sessions will follow. The theme there will also be ‘the year of soil’.
