Tolsma Grisnich introduces automatic Automatic washing programmes for removing sand, clay layers, clods and a lot of haulm are pre-adjustable, but can also be manually programmed. And all this to get a clean product. The washer and the software have both been developed by Tolsma Grisnich itself. This has resulted in an effective, concerted action between software and machine. The water level and the supply of clean water are fully automatic. And the customer can check everything the machine does. As a result, the machine meets the latest customer requirements regarding food processing. For example, all operating hours are registered. Furthermore, with the help of a drawing, all parts can be simply and quickly ordered via a secure internet login. Two years ago, Tolsma Grisnich decided to resume the further development of its own washing and cleaning machines for potatoes. This machine was launched at the end of 2014. ‘There are opportunities in this market, provided you do better than the competition’, Sales Manager Gerard Bos says in no uncertain terms. ‘Proper removal of clods and stones with a comparable specific gravity to potatoes and the absence of contamination with haulm or other non-product elements, are important improvements according to our customers. Haulm that gets stuck around a knife in the chips factory can cause considerable loss of income. And a knife that gets damaged by a stone or a golf ball will drive up the direct product costs and cause an enormous loss of capacity due to stagnation in the factory. For this reason, we developed an automatically-driven combination washer that deals specifically with these problems. They can also remove stones, clods and floating elements from the production flow.’ Four of these machines had already been sold to customers at home and abroad at the start of this year. Jaap Delleman 26 To be able to wash the potatoes well, the outside of the wash-drum is fitted with blades that take the water from the bin and so provide a constant rain shower with spray effect inside the wash-drum. The advantage of the blades is that they are maintenance-friendly, which the frequently used nozzles are not. In addition, the machine provides a maximum of cleaning with a minimum of water.
