This month it was announced that, on 30 June 2016, Stet Holland will take over the conventional seed potato activities of KWS Potato BV. With the take-over, the Stet turnover will increase to approx. 100,000 tons of seed. This makes the company the fourth player in the Dutch seed potato trade. ‘W ith the take-over, we at Stet want to make a real step change towards becoming a total player in the international seed potato trade’, Peter Ton, Director of Stet Holland explains the reason for the take-over in one sentence. ‘It’s not very often that, as a company in the potato sector, you can make your mark consolidation-wise. Certainly not with a company that has its own varieties. In this perspective, in view or our growing ambition – which we’ve regularly voiced – it’s an excellent opportunity to take that one big step, thereby generating the necessary critical mass to make further growth possible. With the take-over, our turnover will rise towards 100,000 tons of seed potatoes. By doing this, we’ve put our company on the international seed potato sector map’, Peter Ton outlines his future perspective.
