Established markets still dominate demand for fries with the USA buying nearly 800,000 tonnes of product a year and the top five importers – USA, France, UK, Netherland and Japan accounting for around half of all demand. But a number of countries posted double-digit growth in 2015 including China, Thailand, Chile and Malaysia. Fry demand continue to grow With fry exports up more than threefold in the last year, processors across the world are looking at the sector to build their businesses. Demand in established markets such as North America and Europe appears to be solid, although companies have to innovate to build any new sales. In developing markets there is still a lot of potential as diet change and become more international. Newer players are entering the market to satisfy the growing demand across the world.
