PW-ACTUA Russia invest in irrigation In Mocow Oblast, Kolomna region, the snow was still on the fields, but the APH Group Service and Installation team assembled the first T-L irrigation system of this year. The T-L irrigation system for this customer consists of two season-towable pivots of 420 and 450 meter, a water supply pipe line and a pump station at the riverbank to feed both pivots. The design of the system enables the customer to apply water in a sufficient, accurate and equal way, whenever needed. What distinguishes this irrigation system from other systems is the unique hydraulic constant drive of the T-L pivots, the best possible sprinklers, the simplicity and the fact that the design of the system is completely customized for each client, based on actual GPS measurements on the field. APH Group gained a lot of experience and knowledge about professional irrigation. T-L irrigation systems are unique because of their hydraulic drive instead of electric drive, and therefore extremely reliable, simple and effective. This constant drive ensures the most equal water rate over the whole field. Besides this advantage, the system also enables APH Group to give a warranty of 24.000 hours on the planetary wheel drive, because the forces on the drive line are constant and do not have torque peaks like electrical systems face. Other big advantages of the hydraulic drive are that there is no copper required on the system, therefore no copper theft, and maintaining or repairing the system does not require a highly qualified electrician, but only a person with basic knowledge of hydraulics. The oil in the system is solely developed for T-L and has the same velocity at all temperatures. Because of this, combined with the unique Alignment Control System, the speed and alignment of the system will stay the same, always. Next to this feature, the oil is biologic degradable and therefore you can still meet the food safety requirements that are valid all over the world. APH Group, with head office in the Netherlands, and active in 35 countries over the world, is aware of the increasing demand for professional irrigation systems, because heat and drought appear more often and irregular then before. Yield levels are becoming more and more important, due to the fact that food shortages appeared in the past several years. Their conclusion is that without professional irrigation, consistent and long term farming is at stake. ● Jan van Hoogen, chairman Europatat seed potato commission Agrico director Jan van Hoogen has been elected chairman at the first official meeting of the new seed potato commission of Europatat, association of European potato traders.
