Straight to work with Crop-R CULTIVATION AND TECHNOLOGY body. The exchange of data is then possible with the permission of the user via login. Start with a subsidy In order to work out his plan, the ICT man got in touch with the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. Courses at this university include a Human Technology course of which students do traineeships at ICT companies; this meant that a connection was quickly made. He also needed money, of course, in order to develop the Crop-R program. Together with the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Skylark and Dacom, a subsidy was made available via the province of Groningen and the European Union to help develop the Crop-R software. The first step was that students studied the needs and the perception relating to cultivation registration by agricultural entrepreneurs. Based on the collected data, the program was developed step-by-step. No grower the same The program is currently at the stage that every farmer can keep a basic cultivation registration. But we haven’t finished yet, Bosloper tells us. ‘Meanwhile, I’ve discovered that no grower is the same and that there are still plenty of wishes that need to be fulfilled. One of them is the possibility of exporting online data to the farmer’s own computer. What is also still on the wish list is a tool to plan activities. Think of the requirement to draw up a cultivation plan to be eligible for subsidies. Logging in to the Crop-R program would then be enough for an inspector to award the subsidy.’ These are typical examples of extra services, which Bosloper wants to offer at a later stage through a paid Pro Account. The app for the smart phone also shows the map of the entire farm with all the plots and data that have already been filled out in the Crop-R online program. Accessible data network for everyone It’s not so strange that this system works much faster than the geoweb server of the Ministry. The developer of the program, Ivor Bosloper, has himself worked for a while as an ICT expert at the Ministry on the geoweb server program for the May counting and the application of single payment entitlements. He often met with frustrations about the many userunfriendly moves people had to make when filling out the program. That gave him the idea to make an improved version. Not in the first instance to change and replace the Ministry’s program, but more to be able to use it for this purpose. As a result of his contacts with companies working in agriculture, among which Countus accountants and Dacom, Bosloper realised that there was a need for an online cultivation registration program for the fast exchange of data. At the moment, there are still many different programs and ways to register your crops. Buyers have different programs from accountants, some work online, others offline or still use paper forms. This gave Bosloper the idea to make an open data network that can be used by and is accessible to everyExchange of data, such as the chemicals stock, for example, is only possible with the permission of the user via login.
