CULTIVATION AND TECHNOLOGY Packed Agritechnica full of innovations Fewer maintenance hours with readjustable roller bearings With the readjustable bearings, any play can be eliminated by tightening a few bolts. Wifo, the company that is celebrating its 50th anniversary, spared no expense at this year’s Agritechnica with the presentation of a large part of its product range suitable for the cultivation of potatoes. New is a box tipper with readjustable roller bearings in the rotation axis. This is the version that can tip to the left and to the right, 200 degrees in all. With the readjustable bearings, any play can be eliminated by tightening a few bolts. You do not have to do this often and, according to director Wytze Anema, you can repeat this endlessly. Unlike the version with a plastic bearing bush, which needs to be replaced after every 150 working hours and that is a job that takes a few hours. The price of a box tipper with readjustable bearings, including the siteshift, is 3,000 euros excluding VAT. Always accurate spreading with the Exacta CL EW iXtra with a modern front tank for a large capacity It has a 130-litre clean-water tank as well as a cleaning unit. Agritechnica also offered many interesting novelties in spraying technology for the potato crop, among other things. The Kverneland/Vicon stand, for example, where manager rolf Allmendinger showed visitors from far and wide the changes in the areas of field crop sprayers and fertiliser distributors. Kverneland, for example, has designed a modern front tank with a content of 1,100 litres for the iXtra mounted field crop sprayer series. Together with the largest possible tank at the back, you can carry a maximum of 2,900 litres of spray mixture. That is even more than the smallest version of the drawn Ikarus. Add to this the maximum available boom width of 30 metres (not shown in the brochure), and the mounted version is just as professional as a drawn tank. On top of that, the new front tank has every modern convenience. It is not necessary to have a front front pto, because the pump is electrically operated. It has a 130-litre clean-water tank as well as a cleaning unit. In total, this tank costs 4,000 euros. Among the spreaders, Kverneland/ Accord is highlighting the Exacta CL EW. This is the standard model of the spreader series with a tank capacity of 1,100 to 2,000 litres. A new aspect is the weighing system that is slightly simpler than the Kverneland weighing system for the very large spreaders up to 3,450 litres. The 2-ton weigher on the CL EW only has one weighing cell, which is enough for exact weighing, according to Allmendinger. A reference sensor allows for corrections to the negative influences on the weighing system, for example, when driving in hilly or uneven terrain. The result is that the amounts spread will always be the same. This Exacta CL EW costs 10,999 euros, excluding VAT. An additional modern option is a spreading table for a smartphone or tablet computer. This is called Kverneland Spreading Charts. This allows you to input the required fertiliser, working width and spreading quantity, so you can immediately see what adjustment the feed opening needs. This is particularly useful for spreaders without an onboard computer. The 2 ton weigher on the CL EW works with only one weighing cell. 18 Potato World 2012 • number 1 Pagina 17
